Labouré College Continues New Authors Series With Massachusetts Author

Renowned Massachusetts author, Andre Dubus III, held a reading, a conversation, and a book signing at Labouré College on Tuesday, December 16. Dubus is the author of , , the New York Times bestsellers, and (soon to be a major motion picture), and, most recently, Dirty Love (a collection of four connected novellas). His memoir, Townie recounts Dubus' often-painful childhood in Haverhill, MA. Townie reached #4 on the New York Times Best Sellers list and was aNew York Times "Editors Choice."

Dubus began his talk with a quote from Tolstoy: "Art is the transfer of emotions from one person to the other." After his "conversation with the audience," Dubus was very gracious, staying well after his scheduled time and writing personalized notes to everyone who waited in line to have a book signed.

The Labouré community "found Dubus' narrative engaging and poignant, and his reading to be filled with the kind of honest and insightful language that marks all his work," remarked Al DeCiccio, Labouré Vice President and founder of the College's new Authors Series.

Author Dubus is the second author in Labouré College's new Authors Series. The themes of this series are Contemplation, Community, Love and Empowerment. Upcoming authors include: Alexandria Peary (January 9) and Harvard professor and historian, John Stauffer, will be at the College on February 25 for a discussion of his national best seller Giants: The Parallel Lives of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
