Labouré 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵÔÚÏß is honored to partner with the on the JoAnn McGrath Women's Empowerment Initiative this year. As released by the Highland Street Foundation:

“As we celebrate Mother’s Day and continue to deliver on the legacy of our co-founder, JoAnn McGrath, we honor those who share her passion and commitment to empowering women with the tools they need to build stable lives for themselves and their families."

At Labouré, our students are adults who are not only studying to become nurses and healthcare professionals – they’re also juggling work and family commitments while in school. 90% of our students are women and approximately 63% are at or approaching poverty. Most are raising young families with an average household income of ~$40,000 and 31% are single parents. A degree from Labouré means a rewarding career, a livable wage, and economic independence.

Labouré is honored to be a past recipient of Highland Street Foundation support as well through an endowed scholarship founded in 1998. The college also awarded Ms. McGrath the Catherine Labouré Medal that same year. The JoAnn McGrath Scholarship is disbursed annually to students pursuing their nursing or healthcare degree at Labouré.
